Nash - John William of Bairnsdale, aged 87.
1937 - 2025
Passed away peacefully on April 12th, surrounded by the people who loved him
most. Born in Bairnsdale as the first of Bill and Lillian Nash’s nine kids, John
quickly learned how to lead the pack - and occasionally stir the pot.
John embraced many passions and pursuits: devoted husband, loving father,
entrepreneur, fearless sailor, cricket player, lawn bowls enthusiast, and
unapologetic champion of fox and duck hunting (and the protection of the morass
he adored).
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Helen, his biggest supporter and
strategist; three children who kept him on his toes - Kirby (Nash), Leah
(Cheeseman), and Kellie (Coughlan); son-in-law Nick Coughlan and Kirby’s
partner, Andrea Caldwell; and grandkids who kept his heart full - Betsy Nash,
Gavin Nash, Daphne Nash, Mikenna Cheeseman, Tate Cheeseman, Harry
Coughlan, and Quinn Coughlan.
John is survived by siblings Joan, Nola, Allan, Leslie, June, Terry, Michael, and
Gary, who undoubtedly have countless stories of his escapades.
Take a moment in the great outdoors, share a story, and remember John in your
own way - just as he would have wanted.
Private Cremation
A celebration of John’s remarkable life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to cancer.org.au
