Born 29th July 1934, passed away on 4th March 2025 at Maddocks Gardens, Bairnsdale.Loving husband of Barbara (Barb) Ellen Hodge (nee Back) of 54 years and currently residing in Opal Gardens, Paynesville.A cherished father by Quentin (little chap) and proud Grandfather (Gramps) to Lachie and Riley Hodge.Nigel was the 4th born child of six children, Fred (dec.), Charlie (dec.), Ken, Roma and Chris of Anne Elizabeth Hodge (Betty), (nee Smyth) (dec.) and Allan Hodge (dec.).Dad was a proud Australian and Gelantipy he called home, living all of his life on the land breeding Herefords of course and Poll Dorset Rams. Dad was most passionate of these enterprises and just wanted to breed a well put together animal with good meat and temperament.Dad's other interests as a younger man included woodchopping, footy, cricket, he tried Polo cross I believe and his love of nature, growing flowers and famously, Turnips and Spuds. Dad was a community man and any event from Buchan, Gelantipy and Wulgulmerang you would find him on the gate or behind the bar.In his latter years, Dad enjoyed making Jams and would enter together with his Gladioli's and Peony roses in shows held in Buchan. He always would be seen wearing a smile and his unmistakable laugh would signal a joke, yarn or story has just been told.I love you and miss you so much Dad, I will never forget the values you have instilled in me and the lessons I have learnt from your wisdom.I will keep an eye over Mum and continue to raise your Grandsons, that gave you much pleasure and smiles, with the same values and attitude they saw in you.Thank you to the Gelantipy community, especially the Bush Nurse Suzie Edwards and all the care helpers importantly Deborah Woodburn. Also, to the wonderful and caring staff at Maddocks Gardens, you are special people doing extraordinary work, thank you for respecting Dad and caring. Gone but never forgotten, Old Chap, My Dad.Your Loving son, Quentin
